Housing Study

In 2025, the City of Oakdale conducted a housing study to identify housing needs within the community and potential strategies to address those needs. The study was prepared in collaboration with Stantec, which has prepared similar studies for other Cities.

The study goals are as follows:

• Establish a baseline of housing needs and market demand by sector within the City of Oakdale.
• Provide prospective developers with data about the market and unmet market needs to tailor their development proposals accordingly.
• Provide staff and City Council members with objective rationale with which to react to housing development proposals.

Study Process

The Housing study consisted of data analysis, interviews with housing stakeholders, a public survey on housing issues, and discussion at City Council workshops. For the survey, a list of questions was developed based on similar surveys completed by Stantec to allow for comparative analysis. Survey results are included in the study.
