Sundae Bingo

Sundae Bingo

Sunday, December 8 | 1 – 3 PM | Discovery Center

What could be better than ice cream sundaes and two hours of bingo? Join us for this exciting Sunday afternoon event! Make your own sundae while shouting out BINGO! Prizes will be awarded each game for this all-ages event. Limit of two prizes per participant. All will be eligible for the grand prize raffle drawing at the end of the event (must be present to win raffle)! All ages welcome! Register by November 29. $8.

Snow Sculpture Contest

Snow Sculpture Contest

Submit your snow sculpture now through March 31 | Oakdale Residents (Any address in Oakdale, MN 55128)

Winner receives a $100 Marcus Theaters Gift Card! Calling all creative Oakdale residents. Do you have what it takes to create the best snow sculpture in town? If so, head outside any time after a snowfall, and start constructing your masterpiece. All sculptures are judged on appearance, relative to the season’s theme. This year’s theme is “Everything Disney.”

Letters to Santa

Soon after Thanksgiving through December 18 | Discovery Center and City Hall

Watch for Santa's magical red mailboxes to appear at the Discovery Center and at City Hall soon after Thanksgiving! Write Santa a letter and deposit your letter in his mailbox. Let him know whether you have been a little naughty or a lot nice and include your wish list! Please include your full name, age, and address in your letter.

Thursday, December 5 | 6 – 7:35 PM | Stops along Hadley

Santa is planning a special visit to Oakdale. He’ll travel through town on a decorated fire truck. To make Santa’s special visit extra special, please make plans to welcome him at one of his stops along Hadley Avenue.
Bundle up and watch for the Oakdale Fire Truck covered in twinkling lights!

A librarian from the Oakdale Library will be visiting the Discovery Center for a special preschool story time! We will have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together.  We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow.  A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups. Free. Please call 651-747-3860 to reserve your spot!

Curious Critters Club

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

Select Friday mornings | 9:30 – 11 AM | Discovery Center

Children participate in discussions, play games, watch DVDs, and create projects. Register one week prior to class! $8 per class.

KidCreate Studio - The Frozen Princesses (Ages 4 to 9)

Friday, December 27 | 1:30 – 3:30 PM | Discovery Center

We will have a blast in this class as we are inspired by the popular Disney movies Frozen and Frozen 2. The kids will create a sparkly, wintery castle scene featuring their favorite princess! Please pack a nut free snack and a drink for your child. Register by December 20. $29 per child.


Indoor Tennis Lessons

Indoor Youth Tennis Lessons (Ages 4 to 12)

Tuesdays, January 7 through February 11| Ages 4 to 7 at 6 – 6:45 PM | Ages 8 to 12 at 7 – 7:45 PM  |  Discovery Center
Learn basic fundamentals of tennis in this fun class! Skills taught include grip, stance, swing, and more in a fun and safe learning environment. We use USTA approved tennis equipment designed for youth tennis. If you have your own racquet, please bring it along each week. Oakdale Recreation has a few to loan each night. Instructor: Dan Stumpf is North High School girl's tennis coach and Hill Murray boy's. Register by December 31. $40.

Saturday, December 7 & 21 | 9 AM – 1 PM | Discovery Center

Over 20 local vendors offering a unique variety of items including baked goods, meats, artisan foods, canned goods, sweets, salsas, strudels, jewelry, essential oils, and much more! The perfect place for holiday shopping! Check out the Community Booths to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses.


Discovery Center

ViniYoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which adapts to the needs of each student. Classes will include a blend of gentle yoga postures, breathing, and simple meditations to help the body build strength and flexibility while remaining steady and comfortable. Beginners are welcome as are those who have practiced yoga before and all students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.

Wednesday Evening Yoga Flow
December 4 to January 29 (no class Dec. 25, Jan. 1), 5:30 to 6:30 PM. $61.
