The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

Friday, July 12 | Movies begin at dusk (about 20 minutes after sunset), concessions available beginning at 7 PM | Walton Park Band Shell

Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as the movie plays on the big screen at the band shell! Sponsored by the Oakdale Police and Recreation Departments.

Are you looking for free summer programs for your children, grandchildren or even yourself? Then the Discovery Center Amphitheater is the place to be! On select Thursday mornings, the amphitheater will play host to a variety of programs geared to all ages.  (In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved into the Discovery Center).

Friday, July 26 | 1–3 PM | Tower Park, 8th Street and Guthrie Avenue
Discover Oakdale’s very “cool” and popular water slide! Grab a towel, pack a lunch, and spend the afternoon cooling off at our water slide at Tower Park, located at 8th Street and Guthrie Avenue. All kids need to be accompanied by an adult. Please bring along non-perishable food items to be donated to the local food shelf. Free.



Saturday, July 27 | 11 AM – 6 PM | Walton Park
VetsFest, a free music festival that honors our nation’s veterans, will return to Walton Park on July 27. The family event will include a Huey Helicopter landing, a vintage aircraft flyover, military vehicles on display, and the opportunity to have your picture taken in an F4 cockpit. New this year: vintage car show, sponsored by Cops ‘n Rodders. Enter vehicles at www.vetsfest.org. Free activities for kids too! Provided by IBEW Local Union #110. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. This family event is made possible by the joint efforts of Vets for Music, City of Oakdale, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, The Minnesota Vietnam Vets Charity, and the Minnesota Air Commemorative National Guard Museum. Free.

Summer Youth Recreation Camps – Special Package Promo

Eight weeks of summer fun for your child! Campers play games, create arts and crafts, and participate in special events for each weekly theme. One week of camp is free when you sign your child up for all eight weeks!

Small World Camps for preschool ages 3 to 5 (must be potty trained)
Monday – Thursday | 10 – 11:30 AM | Eberle, Oakdale Nature Preserve, Oakfield, and Walton Parks

Kidcreate Studio Lego Minecraft (Ages 5 to 12)

Friday, July 19 | 9:30 – 11:30 AM | Discovery Center

LEGO bricks and Minecraft, what an amazing combination! In this class, the kids will create multiple projects inspired by Creepers, the popular Minecraft characters. We will use air-dry clay, paint, and LEGO bricks to create these explosive masterpieces. Register by July 12. $30.

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

Select Friday mornings | 9:30 – 11 AM | Discovery Center

Children participate in discussions, play games, watch DVDs, and create projects. Register one week prior to class. $7 per class.

Story Time for Preschoolers: "Camping"

Wednesday, July 17 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

Join a librarian from the Oakdale Library for a special preschool story time! We will have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together.  We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow.  A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups. Please call 651-747-3860 to reserve your spot! Free.

Farmers Market

Wednesdays, now to October 2 | 2 - 6 PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Purchase locally grown products that promote healthy lifestyles, while sustaining local agriculture at the Oakdale Farmers Market. Pick up a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, dessert, and so much more! Check out the Community Booth to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses.


ViniYoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which adapts to the needs of each student. Classes are held in a serene setting overlooking the beautiful nature preserve and include a blend of gentle yoga postures, breathing, and simple meditations to help the body build strength and flexibility while remaining steady and comfortable. Beginners are welcome as are those who have practiced yoga before and all students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
