Oakdale Recreation Program Guide

Family Fun Activities



Tuesday, Sept. 11 | 5-7 PM | Walton Park Parking Lot

Don’t miss this unique opportunity where dozens of vehicles will be on hand for children to climb, sit in the driver’s seat, touch, view up close, pose for photos and learn about how various trucks work.  Kids of all ages can experience what big trucks are really like. Free!
There will be concessions available (hot dogs, brats, etc.) and of course FREE ice-cream!

Saturday, September 15 | 11 AM – 4 PM | Walton Park

Join us at Walton Park for a full day of jumping, bouncing, diving, and exploring a sea of inflatables!  Over a dozen unique inflatables will be on site for this day of nonstop fun, for all ages.  Bounce castles, obstacle courses, and giant slides are just a few of the inflatables you will see, as well as a kid’s DJ and some great food! Free!

Daddy-Daughter Princess Ball

Friday, September 28 | 6:30 PM - 8 PM | Discovery Center

For the first time ever, Princess Elena of Avalor will be hosting the 2018 Daddy Daughter Princess Ball! Join Once Upon A Star's Elena, Princess Anna from FROZEN, Snow White, and a surprise princess for an enchanting evening with your favorite adult date. We'll enjoy a craft, princess snack, dancing, and royal fun. All "couples" will have a photo taken with next day proof access. $31 per couple. Register by September 21!
(Adults - please bring your camera for memorable photo opportunities, including a group princess photo with your little princess!)

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

Select Friday mornings | 9:30AM - 11AM | Discovery Center

Children participate in discussions, play games, watch DVDs, and create projects. $7 per class. Register one week prior to class!

Summer Storytime for Preschoolers: Shapes & Numbers

Wednesday, September 19 | 10:30AM | Discovery Center

Join Katelyn from the Oakdale Library for a series of special preschool story times! We will have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups. Free.


Activities for Adults

Farmers Market

Wednesdays, now to October 3 | 2 to 6PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Purchase locally grown products that promote healthy lifestyles, while sustaining local agriculture at the Oakdale Farmers Market. Pick up a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, dessert, and so much more! Check out the Community Booth to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses. EBT/Food Stamps now accepted!


Discovery Center

ViniYoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which adapts to the needs of each student. Classes will include a blend of gentle yoga postures, breathing, and simple meditations to help the body build strength and flexibility while remaining steady and comfortable. Beginners are welcome as are those who have practiced yoga before and all students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.  
Tuesday Morning Yoga Flow:
October 2 to November 27 (no class Nov. 6 & 13), 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. $61.   
Wednesday Evening Yoga Flow:
October 3 to November 28 (no class Oct. 31), 5 to 6 PM. $69.   

Wellness 50+ “Volunteering: Good for the Mind and Soul”

Saturday, September 29 | 10:30 AM –12 PM | Discovery Center

Attend our informational session all about the opportunities, benefits, and social connections volunteering can offer. There are a myriad of volunteer positions out there. Come and see where you might find your passion! Register by calling 651-747-3860. Free.


Saint Paul's Defining Moments

Thursday, October 25 | 10:15 AM – 4:15 PM | Departs from Walton Park Bandshell Parking Lot
As proud Minnesotans we're off to St. Paul for a guided tour of the Minnesota State Capitol building to see this magnificent 1905 masterpiece returned to its original grandeur. After the tour, lunch is at the Downtowner Woodfire Grill. Choose your entrée when registering. After lunch, the trip is off to The Cabinets of Curiosity Tour at the James J. Hill Center. Get an inside look at Mr. Hill's most significant gift to the city of Saint Paul, hailed by modern critics as "a high point in Beaux Arts architecture in Minnesota!" For those who are willing and able, explore secret spots, glass catwalks, hidden vaults and high up spaces. $57. Register by October 10!
