Magician Brian Richards will join us for a morning of fun and educational entertainment. He will have you laughing, surprised, and you may even come out of the performance learning something new.

Movies in the Park

Movie in the Park: Coco

Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as the movie Coco plays on the big screen at the band shell! Concessions available starting at 7 PM. Free! 


Summer Concert Series

Summer Concert Series

Select Wednesdays | 7 PM | Walton Park Bandshell

Bring your friends, family, and lawn chairs to Walton Park for a variety of concerts on Wednesday nights though the summer. You’re sure to find a live performance that will fit your musical taste. Free!

Tower Park Water Slide

Tower Park Water Slide

Friday, July 20 | 1 – 3 PM | Tower Park

Oakdale’s very “cool” and popular water slide is back! Grab a blanket, pack a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon cooling off at our water slide at Tower Park, located at 8th Street and Guthrie Avenue. Children must be accompanied by an adult. At each waterslide event, nonperishable food and/or toiletry items will be collected for the local food shelf. Free! 

School House Tour

Schoolhouse Tour & Free Root Beer Floats

Sunday, July 29 | 12 – 4 PM | Discovery Center

Enjoy free root beer floats while touring the Eder School. Built in 1888 as District #12 of Washington County, it closed in 1920 and became a storage shed for the Eder Family until it was moved to the Oakdale Nature Preserve and restored by the Oakdale-Lake Elmo Historical Society. Today it is operated by the Washington County Historical Society. Free!

Campers play games, create arts and crafts, and participate in special events for each weekly theme.

Children participate in discussions, play games, watch DVDs, and create projects. $7 per class. Register one week prior to class!

Pee Wee T-Ball Session 2 (Ages 4 to 6)

Monday through Thursday, July 16-July 26 | 10AM – 11AM | Walton Park

Batter Up! Our skill-building program will develop and fine-tune t-ball skills through lead up games and drills. We'll work on catching, throwing, running and hitting. Participants must provide their own glove. Fee includes a t-shirt. (This is not a league.) Class sizes are limited to 20 participants. Register by July 9. $38.

Summer Storytime for Preschoolers

Wednesday, July 18 | 10:30AM | Discovery Center

Join Katelyn, from the Oakdale Public Library, for a special Elephant & Piggie story time. We will have fun talking, reading, singing, writing, and playing together. A simple craft will follow. Call 651-747-3860 to reserve your spot. Free.

KidCreate Studio: My Pet Porg (Ages 5 to 12)

Friday, July 20 | 9AM – 11:30AM | Discovery Center

Who doesn't love those adorable porgs from Stars Wars movie the Last Jedi? Do you want a porg as a pet? I do! Here's the next best thing, come to class and learn a simple step-by-step drawing technique as you draw and paint your very own pet porg on a canvas board. What will you name your new pet from the planet Ahch-To? Register by July 13. $29.



Activities for Adults

Farmers Market

Wednesdays, July 11 to October 3 | 2 to 6PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Purchase locally grown products that promote healthy lifestyles, while sustaining local agriculture at the Oakdale Farmers Market. Pick up a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, dessert, and so much more! Check out the Community Booth to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses.

Intro to Line Dancing: Ages 18+

Mondays, July 16-August 13 | 6:30-7:30PM | Discovery Center

Join us in this no pressure, introduction to line dancing class. You will be guided step-by-step through a variety of dances. Experience not needed, just come for the fun! Instructor Kim Ustruck has been a group exercise instructor for over 30 years and has a passion for line dancing.  Register by July 9. $45. 


Road Trip: "Panola Valley Gardens"

Tuesday, July 24 | 10:15 AM – 4 PM | Bus Departs from Walton Park Bandshell

The lovely setting at Panola Valley Gardens beckons you to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the surroundings during a guided tour of the gardens. A salad luncheon is served at the large outdoor pavilion with its own landscaped courtyard and view of the countryside. After visiting the garden, the trip heads to WineHaven Winery and Vineyard. A brief talk about the history, wines and vineyard will be followed by small samplings of a variety of wines.  Register by July 6. $64.

Wellness 50+ “It's All About Balance”

Saturday, July 28 | 10:30 AM–12 PM | Discovery Center

Among the ABCs of Fitness, B for balance helps prevent falling, tripping, and many other missteps. A certified fitness instructor will guide us through practices that will keep us strong, active, and safe. Register by calling 651-747-3860. Free.
