Learn to Kayak

Saturday, May 12 | 9 – 10:30 AM | Silver Lake Beach

Join Wahoo! Adventures and other nature lovers at Silver Lake to learn how to paddle a kayak and how to get in and out of one. Get close to nature and learn how easy and relaxing kayaking can be! We will have both double and single kayaks available, life vests are provided! Register by May 4. $25.

Mom's Day Family Kayak Paddle

Saturday, May 12 | 11AM – 1 PM | Silver Lake Beach

Treat mom to lunch and a paddle on Silver Lake for Mother's Day! This event is for everyone, so bring grandma, grandpa, the kids, or grandkids to learn to paddle a kayak and get up close to nature, feel a sense of adventure, or just relax and enjoy the day. Afterward, enjoy a camp lunch and flowers for Mom. Register by May 4. $30 per person or $80 for a family of four.

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

select Friday mornings | 9:30AM - 11AM | Discovery Center

Children participate in discussions, play games, watch DVDs, and create projects. $7 per class. Register one week prior to class!

Activities for Adults

Chicken Keeping

Saturday, May 5 | 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM | Discovery Center
Learn everything you need to know about keeping chickens, such as coop construction, chicken comfort, safety, sanitation, and doing it all with minimum expense by using ordinary materials and equipment. This is a great program for those considering raising chickens as well as those who are already raising them. Instructor Les Larson has raised chickens, pigeons, and doves for many years. Free.

Wellness 50+ “Dementia Friendly City

Monday, May 14 | 4 – 6 PM | HealthPartners Neuroscience Center, 295 Phalen Blvd, St Paul, MN 55130

The Oakdale Wellness 50+ new initiative is to begin creating a supportive, Dementia Friendly Community in Oakdale. Please join us at our first Speaker/Tour event, “Alzheimer’s Disease: New Approaches to Treatment and Prevention,” presented by Dr. William H. Frey II, PhD - Founder and Co-Director of the Alzheimer's Research Center at Regions Hospital. Take the first step and attend this free event, which includes a tour of the new HealthPartners Neuroscience Center. The next step is to get involved with Oakdale Wellness 50+ in making Oakdale a Dementia Friendly City. Registration required. Free.

Pickleball Lessons for Adults - Beginner

Tuesdays, May 15 – June 5 | 6 – 7 PM | Walton Park Pickleball Courts

Pickleball is a great workout for all fitness levels. Learn the basics of the game! Equipment will be provided or bring your own. Ages 18 and up. Register by May 8. $20.

Park N Play – Day of Discovery for Adult

Friday, May 18 | 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM | Oakdale Discovery Center and Nature Preserve

Join us for a day of discovery for adults! Explore nature through a variety of classes and activities including arts, recreation, and discussion/education. Enjoy just one class or stay all day. Ages 18 and up. Register by May 11.
