Work on 4th Street N will have spot curb replacement, and miscellaneous storm and water main repairs, full asphalt replacement, and lighting replacement.

The improvements in Phase 4 include spot curb replacement, miscellaneous storm and water main repairs, full asphalt replacement, and lighting replacement.

McNamara Contracting is the contractor for this project. They have successfully completed many similar local projects. All project work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

Current and Planned Work

Area 1: Upper 5th Street N (Greenway Avenue N to Grovner Avenue N), 5th Street N, and 5th Street Court N)
- Work began on Monday, June 2.
- The contractor has finished milling the asphalt off the street.
- Tree and stump removal is complete.
- Temporary water has been set up. Homes will not be hooked up to the temporary water system until the water main work starts next week.
- The contractor will start the removal and replacement of the water main starting with Upper 5th Street N and moving to 5th Street N and 5th Street Court N. Water main work on these streets is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.
- Curb and gutter removal began this week along with the removal of driveway aprons. Some driveways have been cut back past the aprons for a variety of reasons. Most are to ensure proper drainage and a better transition from the street to the driveway once new aprons are poured. There are some areas, however, where water service (which will be replaced with this project) is near or in a driveway. This also resulted in the removal of driveway to ensure proper excavation and replacement of water service.
- Water main stakes will be in place today (June 5). Please do not move these stakes, as they are essential to laying the new water main at the proper location and elevation.
- The contractor is responsible for keeping access to driveways. However, there will be brief periods where equipment or digging is located directly in front of driveways. Please be patient as this work takes place.

Area 2: 6th Street N, 4th Street N, 3rd Street N, Grenadier Avenue N, and Gresham Avenue N
- Tree and stump removal is complete.
- The contractor will begin lowering manholes and gate valves in these streets this Friday (June 6) and Saturday (June 7) in preparation for grinding the street.
- The contractor will grind these streets on Wednesday, June 11 which will turn them into a gravel road that can be driven on.
- Curb stakes will be placed on Thursday, June 12. Please do not move these as they provide critical information for placement of the curb.
- Curb and gutter, along with driveway apron removal, will tentatively start late next week. When a driveway apron is removed, the contractor will fill it with gravel to keep access open to the home. There will be a brief period where access is limited, as it takes a little time to remove the apron and place gravel in the removed area. Please be patient with the contractor as they perform this work.
- Addition of new curb and gutter with driveway aprons is tentatively planned for June 20. Further details regarding parking and where the contractor plans start work will be provided as the date nears.

Area 3: 1st Street North and Greystone Avenue N
- Tree and stump removal is complete.
- All other work is tentatively planned to begin the second week in July.

Area 4: Grovner Avenue N and Upper 5th Street N (Grovner Avenue N to Hadley Avenue N)
- Tree and stump removal is complete.
- All other work is tentatively planned to begin the second week in July.

Reminders

As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7 AM to 7 PM within the project area unless instructed to by the contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the contractor to work more efficiently and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
