Family Moonlight Snowshoe and Bonfire

Saturday, February 15 | Select an arrival/check-in time upon registration: 6 PM, 6:20 PM, 6:40 PM or 7 PM | Trail closes at 8:30 PM | Discovery Center

Enjoy two luminary-lit trails through the Nature Preserve. After, enjoy hot dogs, chips, s’mores and hot chocolate while watching a movie. Snowshoes provided or bring your own. Dress in layers with sturdy boots. Children under 18 must be accompanied by adult. $25 per person. Registration deadline is one week prior to the event.

Snowshoe Rental

Rentals available daily pending snow conditions, during building hours | Discovery Center
 
Take your family and friends snowshoeing in the 200 acres of the Oakdale Nature Preserve. Watch for animal tracks, deer, fox, and birds, even snowshoe angels! Sizes available for both children and adults. $6, tax included, per person for a two hour rental.  Cash or check only on weekends.

Snow Sculpture Contest

Submit your snow sculpture through March 31, 2025

Calling all creative Oakdale residents. Do you have what it takes to create the best snow sculpture in Oakdale? If so, head outside any time after a snowfall, and start constructing your masterpiece. All sculptures are judged on appearance, relative to the season’s theme.  

This year’s theme is “Favorite Sport.”

Sundae Bingo

Sunday, February 23 | 1 to 3 PM | Discovery Center

Join us for bingo and ice cream sundaes. Prizes are awarded for every game with a grand prize raffle to follow. Must be present to win. Registration deadline is February 16. $10 per player (all ages).

Beginner Youth Self Defense and Safety Awareness Class

Saturdays, February 8, 15, 22, March 1, 8, 22, 29, April 5, 12 (No class March 15) | 10 to 10:45 AM | John Glenn Middle School Cafeteria

This class will empower youth with non-aggressive skils and techniques to protect themselves from others and dangerous situations. Deadline to register is February 6. $100 per child (ages 4 to 16).

Whether you’re a beginning, intermediate or advanced player, this program will improve your game.

"Numbers" Library Story Time

Wednesday, February 26 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

A Washington County Youth Librarian will be visiting the Discovery Center for a series of special preschool story times!

We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow.

A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

Painting Class | "Cozy Cottages"

Friday, February 7 | 11 AM to 2 PM | Discovery Center

Join local artist Sandy Danus of Cheerful Hearts Studio as she leads you through a fun and inviting, acrylic paint class. Learn a new skill and have a great time! All supplies are included and our cheerful, step by step instruction is easy to follow, even if you have never picked up a paint brush before. Come away with your own beautiful finished canvas creation that you can be proud of. Deadline to register is February 2. $35 (11-by-14 canvas).

Snowshoe, Sip and Sample

Friday, February 14 | 6 to 9 PM | Discovery Center

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with an evening of snowshoeing, beer, wine and food samples! Snowshoe along a luminary-lit trail before heading indoors for the vintage game room, music and prize drawings. Snowshoes provided or bring your own. If there isn't enough snow for snowshoeing, the event will be an ice luminary lit walk under the stars. $50 per person (ages 21 and up).

Adult Yoga

Join yoga teacher, trainer and Pilates instructor Jen Vail for all-levels yoga. Registration deadline is one week prior to start of program. Drop-in for single class within a session is $20 if space is available.

Morning Yoga Session 1: Tuesdays, 9:30 to 10:30 AM | February 18 to March 18 | 5 weeks | $89

Rise and shine with intention. Experience a customizable and dynamic yoga practice designed to build strength, develop balance, and increase mobility and mindfulness. This all-levels class encourages participants to move at their own pace to explore shapes in a safe and sustainable way that will support a healthy range of motion and a more fulfilling practice experience. 

Twilight Yoga Session 1: Thursdays, 6 to 7 PM | February 13 to March 13 | 5 weeks | $89

Wind down your day with a gentle flow to melt away stress in the glow of twinkling lights. This all-levels class will illuminate your intention and calm the nervous system with flowing movements designed to improve balance, strength and flexibility in a sustainable way. Enjoy the outdoors in the comfort of being indoors and without bugs, humidity and sand.

Oakdale Wellness 50+

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is a volunteer initiative making Oakdale and Washington County healthier by offering health-focused activities for persons 50 and over that lead to measurably improved wellness. 

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is supported by Washington County, the City of Oakdale, and the Vital Aging Network (VAN).

Walks at the Oakdale Nature Preserve | Wednesdays at 10 AM  
No registration is necessary to join these weekly walks. Meet in front of the Discovery Center. 

Essentrics Classical Stretch | Thursdays, now through March 27 | 10 to 11 AM | Discovery Center | Join us for a free, weekly drop-in session.  We will stretch and strengthen to two 22-minute DVD’s by Miranda Esmonde-White.  Her program is designed to increase flexibility, loosen joints, strengthen and stretch with relaxing, gentle movements.  Bring a map to stand on.  No registration.

Wellness Movie Club: Wild | Tuesday, February 11 | 1 PM | Oakdale Library | Register by calling 651-730-0504.

Self Defense with Glen | Saturday, March 1 | 12 to 3 PM | Discovery Center
Glen Giacoletto, a licensed martial arts instructor with 50 years of experience, will teach basic self-defense concepts, updated regulations and easy to remember practical techniques. Focus will be placed on awareness, proper balance, centeredness and movement. Please wear loose clothing and comfortable shoes. Register by calling 651-747-3860.
