Street Improvement Project Update

JULY 3, 2024

Each summer, the City of Oakdale provides weekly construction updates on the annual Street Improvement Program projects. For more information on this year's projects, visit the City of Oakdale Engineering Projects webpage.

Construction has begun on this year’s Street Improvement Project. The contractor has split the project into four areas for coordination and scheduling.

- Area 1:  46th Street N, 47th Street N, 48th Street N and 49th Street N (From Hadley Avenue N to the East) Area 1 Map
- Area 2:  Hadley Avenue N from 40th Street N to 50th Street N Area 2 Map
- Area 3:  Oakdale Nature Preserve Trail Reconstruction Area 3 Map
- Area 4:  North Fire Station Parking Lot Reconstruction Area 4 Map

Improvements on Hadley Avenue N include miscellaneous storm sewer repairs, spot curb and gutter replacement, full asphalt replacement, street light replacement and bike trail reconstruction on the west side of Hadley Avenue N.

The improvements in the residential areas east of Hadley Avenue N include miscellaneous storm, sanitary and water main repairs, spot curb and gutter replacement, street light replacement and full asphalt pavement replacement.

Dresel Contracting is the contractor for this project. They have successfully completed many similar local projects. All project work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

Current and Planned Work

Area 1: 46th Street N, 47th Street N, 48th Street N and 49th Street N (From Hadley Avenue N to the East)
- Topsoil and sod is complete.
- Please help water your sod so it grows! The contractor will also water for the first 30 days only. Any sod that is acceptable after 30 days will not be replaced. See the sod care sheet for more information.
- All manholes and valve boxes have been raised to the proposed elevation.

Area 2: Hadley Avenue N (40th Street N to 50th Street N)
- Curb repair and pedestrian ramps are complete.
- All manholes and valve boxes have been lowered in preparation for removing the road surface.
- The contractor plans on grinding the existing asphalt road surface and the bike trail on Hadley Avenue N on July 8 and 9. This creates a gravel surface that can be driven on.
- July 10 and 11 a milling machine will remove excess gravel off the street. Please drive with caution as there will be temporary lane closures on Hadley Avenue N.
- The first lift of asphalt on Hadley Avenue N is tentatively planned for the week of July 15.

Area 3: Oakdale Nature Preserve Trail Reconstruction
- Work is now planned to start later in July.

Area 4: North Fire Station Parking Lot Reconstruction
- The parking lot asphalt base layer is complete and the restoration work will be done the week of July 8.

Reminders

As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7 AM to 7 PM within the project area unless instructed to by the contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the contractor to work more efficiently and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
