Amped Up Entertainment

Select Thursdays | 10 AM | Discovery Center Amphitheater

Are you looking for free summer programs for your children, grandchildren or even yourself? Then the Discovery Center Amphitheater is the place to be! On select Thursday mornings, the amphitheater will play host to a variety of programs geared to all ages.  (In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved into the Discovery Center).

Pop-Up Splash Pad

Friday, August 11 | 1 to 3 PM | OAA Parking Lot, 6776 15th St N

Beat the heat at our first-ever Pop-Up Splash Pad! The Oakdale Fire Department will bring the water, so get your suit and towel. Run through a fire hose spray, toss water balloons and play water games! Free.

Summer Concert Series

Select Wednesdays | Concerts begin 7 PM | Walton Park

Bring your friends, family, and lawn chairs to Walton Park for a variety of concerts on Wednesday nights though the summer. You're sure to find a live performance that will fit your musical taste. Free.

  • August 2: Everett Smithson Band
  • August 9: Will Hale and the Tadpole Parade (kids music)
  • August 16: Smooth Sensation Band (rescheduled from June 28)
  • August 23: The Revolution 5 (Beatles Tribute Band)

Families get ready to watch a movie on the lawn

Movies in the Park

Select Fridays | Movies begin at dusk | Walton Park

Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as your favorite movie plays on the big screen at the band shell. Sponsored by the Oakdale Police and Recreation Departments.

Small World Camps (Ages 3 to 6)

Monday to Thursday | 10 to 11:30 AM

Campers play games, create arts and crafts, and participate in special events for each weekly theme. 

  • August 7 to 10: Final Fling at Walton Park


Register before the deadline one week prior to camp. $30 per week, per child.

ITS Truck

In The Streets: ITS Truck

The brand new ITS Truck will be in the streets and at a park near you this summer! The ITS Truck will operate Monday to Thursday with two stops per day. These drop-in recreation programs are FREE, and no registration is needed. Check out the new schedule for 2023 at www.oakdalefun.com!

Horseback Riding at Bunker Park Stable (Ages 8 to 16)

Friday, August 4 | 10 AM to 2:30 PM | Depart and Return at Discovery Center
 
Travel to Bunker Park Stable for a day of riding horses. The trip departs from the Discovery Center and includes horseback ride, barn tour, horse grooming and transportation. Participants must be at least eight years old and at least 52 inches tall, no exceptions. You must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (no shorts or sandals). Bring a nut-free bagged lunch. Space is limited. Registration deadline is July 28. $75.

Drawing Creations

Kidcreate Studio: Introductory Drawing (Ages 5 to 12)

Friday, August 11 | 9 AM to 3 PM | Discovery Center

In this introductory drawing camp, participants learn principles of drawing and basic techniques to create drawings that glow-in-the-dark, artwork that pops and a canvas painting. Please pack a drink and nut free lunch for your child. Deadline to register is August 4. $88.

Library Story Time "Opposites"

Wednesday, August 30 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center
 
A Washington County Youth Librarian will be visiting for a series of special preschool story times! We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

Nature Preserve Large Shelter

Host your next summer event at one of Oakdale's picnic shelters!

Now through early October | City of Oakdale Parks

Reserve a picnic shelter for your graduation party, shower, birthday, reunion, or other celebration! Call 651-747-3860 to check availability and make a reservation. Rental fees are due at the time of booking.

Yoga Drop-In

Tuesday, August 1 | 9 to 10 AM | Discovery Center

Develop a strong and flexible spine, increase comfort and mobility in your joints, and build strength and balance in a safe way in this all-levels yoga class. Classes focus on each student's own internal experience rather than achieving an external appearance. Every class will include movement and guided breathing woven together. Most classes will have an element of meditation, chanting, and guided self-exploration. Drop in at the Discovery Center front desk for $18 for the single class.

Painting Class | Flower Loon

Friday, August 18 | 11 AM to 2 PM | Discovery Center

Join local artist Sandy Danus of Cheerful Hearts Studio as she leads you through a fun and inviting, acrylic paint class. Learn a new skill and have a great time! All supplies are included and our cheerful, step by step instruction is easy to follow, even if you have never picked up a paint brush before. Come away with your own beautiful finished canvas creation that you can be proud of. Deadline to register is August 13. $30.

Open Court Pickleball

Courts open for play, pending weather conditions | Tanners Lake Park

  • Monday, Wednesday, Sunday | 5 to 7 PM
  • Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday | 9 to 11 AM

Join the Oakdale Pickleball Club for a game of pickleball. All are welcome to join during the open court play. Play is casual, beginners are welcome! Pickleball balls will be provided.

Oakdale Wellness 50+

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is a volunteer initiative making Oakdale and Washington County healthier by offering health-focused activities for persons 50 and over that lead to measurably improved wellness. 

Oakdale Wellness 50+ is supported by Washington County, the City of Oakdale, and the Vital Aging Network (VAN).

Wednesdays at 9 AM. No registration is necessary to join these weekly walks.

Summer Social

Sunday, August 13 | 1 to 3 PM | Oakdale Discovery Center Picnic Shelter | Bring your family and friends to the Oakdale Nature Preserve Shelter area (across from the Discovery Center) and enjoy an afternoon of fresh air and fun. Healthy fruit popsicles will be provided, while they last. Play games such as corn hole, ladder toss, and bocce ball. Free.

Wellness Movie Club - The Hundred Foot Journey
