Select Thursdays | 10 AM | Discovery Center Amphitheater

Are you looking for free summer programs for your children, grandchildren or even yourself? Then the Discovery Center Amphitheater is the place to be! On select Thursday mornings, the amphitheater will play host to a variety of programs geared to all ages.  (In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved into the Discovery Center).

Summer Concert Series

Select Wednesdays | Concerts begin 7 PM | Walton Park
 
Bring your friends, family, and lawn chairs to Walton Park for a variety of concerts on Wednesday nights though the summer. You're sure to find a live performance that will fit your musical taste. Free.

Movies in the park

Movies in the Park

Select Fridays | Movies begin at dusk | Walton Park
 
Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as your favorite movie plays on the big screen at the band shell. Concessions and movie-themed activities begin at 7 PM. Sponsored by the Oakdale Police and Recreation Departments.

  • July 22: Encanto (PG/99 minutes)

Rain Policy: Decision to cancel will be made by 4 PM on event day. Notice will be posted on website and Facebook.

Small World Camps (Ages 3 to 5)

Monday to Thursday | 10 to 11:30 AM

Campers play games, create arts and crafts, and participate in special events for each weekly theme.

  • July 11 to 14: Wild Water Week at Walton Park South Shelter
  • July 18 to 21: Disney Week at Oakfield Park
  • July 25 to 28: Animal Kingdom at Eberle Park
  • August 1 to 5: Final Fling at Walton Park South Shelter

 
Register before the deadline one week prior to camp. $25 per week.

ITS Truck

Monday to Thursday | Rotating Schedule and Locations
 
This summer, the ITS (In The Street) Truck will find its way to a park near you, bringing along fun new games, a super sound system and Nintendo Wii gaming device! There’s a different theme each week, so come outside and join the Oakdale Recreation staff because you know ITS going to be a blast all summer long! No registration required! Free.

Pop Up Parks

Monday to Thursday | Rotating Schedule and Locations

Pop in this summer at one of our FREE Pop-Up Parks! Pop Up Parks is a program for kids to enjoy access to recreation programming in their own neighborhoods. Oakdale Recreation staff will be “popping” in to your neighborhood with games, activities, sports equipment, special events, arts and crafts, and more. Look for the Pop-Up Park flag! No registration required! Free.

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

Select Friday mornings | 9:30 to 11 AM | Discovery Center

Preschoolers discuss a nature topic, play themed games, watch videos and create crafts centered on the subject. Children enjoy a snack that is provided during the class. Please dress kids for the weather; Curious Critters like to go on adventures outside! Deadline to register is one week prior to class. $8 per class.

Library Storytime: Animals

Wednesday, July 27 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

A Washington County Youth Librarian will be visiting for a series of special preschool story times! We’ll have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups.

Reserve a picnic shelter for your graduation party, shower, birthday, reunion, or other celebration! Call 651-747-3860 to check availability and make a reservation. Rental fees are due at the time of booking.

Farmers Market

Wednesdays, now through October 12 | 2 to *6:30 PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Purchase locally grown products that promote healthy lifestyles, while sustaining local agriculture at the Oakdale Farmers Market. Pick up a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, dessert, and so much more! Check out the Community Booth to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses. *Some vendors depart at 6 PM.

Yoga

Discovery Center

Develop a strong and flexible spine, increase comfort and mobility in your joints, and build strength and balance in a safe way in this all-levels yoga class. Classes focus on each student's own internal experience rather than achieving an external appearance. Every class will include movement and guided breathing woven together. Most classes will have an element of meditation, chanting, and guided self-exploration. Classes are taught by Jennifer Brandt, Registered Yoga Teacher and Certified Yoga Therapist at Body and Mind Yoga Therapy www.bodyandmindyogatherapy.com.

Cheerful Hearts Painting Classes

Discovery Center

Join local artist Sandy Danus of Cheerful Hearts Studio as she leads you through a fun and inviting, acrylic paint class. Learn a new skill and have a great time! All supplies are included and our cheerful, step by step instruction is easy to follow, even if you have never picked up a paint brush before. Come away with your own beautiful finished canvas creation that you can be proud of. Deadline to register is one week prior to class.

Forest Therapy Walks 

Saturdays, July 16 or 30 | 10 AM to 12 PM | Meet at Discovery Center Firepit
 
Forest Therapy, or “forest bathing,” is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. Studies have demonstrated a wide array of health benefits, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for stabilizing and improving mood and cognition. Forest therapy walks are slow-paced and are leisurely guided through nature by certified forest therapy guides. $20 per class (50% discount for frontline workers).
