Construction has begun on this year’s street improvement project. The contractor has split the project into smaller areas for coordination and scheduling (see project area Map on City website www.ci.oakdale.mn.us):

31st Avenue neighborhood west of Ideal Avenue and north of Stillwater Boulevard (Anna's Grove).
4th Street between Helmo Avenue and Inwood Avenue.
Imperial Avenue/Oak Marsh Drive/3^rd Street from 4^th Street to Inwood Avenue.

The improvements include miscellaneous storm sewer/sanitary sewer/water main repairs and replacement, replacement of isolated sections of structurally damaged curb and gutter, repaving of the asphalt pavement section, installation of new street lighting, and some trail and walk improvements. On 4^th Street the rural roadway with ditches will be replaced with an urban roadway with curb and storm sewer.

Miller Excavating is the Contractor for this project. They have successfully completed many similar projects locally. All project work is scheduled to be complete by September.

Current and Planned Work

Area 1: (31st Avenue Neighborhood west of Ideal Avenue and north of Stillwater Boulevard (Anna's Grove).

Isolated smaller areas of damaged concrete curb and gutter are being replaced now. There are some longer areas in the cul-de-sacs that will be done in a couple of weeks with a curb machine.
Some minor storm sewer and water main repairs are planned for next week.
The lowering of manhole castings and water valve boxes is planned next week in preparation for pavement reclaiming.
The existing asphalt pavement is planned to be reclaimed into gravel Thursday & Friday June 9 & 10. The gravel will be compacted and should be passable soon after the reclaiming.

Area 2: (4^th Street between Helmo Avenue and Inwood Avenue).

Work is planned to start here in early July depending upon construction material delivery.

Area 3: (Oakdale Park trail from Hadley Avenue to the Discovery Center and west to Granada Avenue).

Work is planned to start on Imperial Avenue/Oak Marsh Drive in mid-late June depending upon construction material delivery.

As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area. Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. within the project area unless instructed to by the Contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the Contractor to work more efficiently, and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
