COVID-19 NoticeOakdale Recreation is committed to following current Minnesota Department of Health and Center for Disease Control guidelines as they pertain to programs and activities. This includes group size, face coverings, and sanitation. To provide a safe and clean environment, we have limited program registrations and on-site participants. Story Stroll: My Heart is Like a Zoo by Michael HallFebruary 1 through 16 | During Park Hours | Oakdale Nature Preserve
Read a story, while taking a stroll through the Oakdale Nature Preserve with your kids! Story Strolls are free, self-guided, and brought to you in partnership with Washington County Libraries. It is a great way to enjoy the park, practice social distancing, and enjoy a great book!

Snow Sculpture ContestSubmit your snow sculpture now through March 31, 2021
Calling all creative Oakdale residents. Do you have what it takes to create the best snow sculpture in town? If so, head outside any time after a snowfall, and start constructing your masterpiece. All sculptures are judged on appearance, relative to the season’s theme.
This year’s theme is “Everyday Heroes”
Winner receives a $100 Target Gift Card! Please submit photo entries by March 31. The winner will be contacted on April 1 by Oakdale Recreation.

Snowshoe RentalsRentals available February (pending snow conditions) | Discovery Center
Take your family and friends snowshoeing in the 200 acres of the Oakdale Nature Preserve. Watch for animal tracks, deer, fox, and birds, even snowshoe angels! Sizes available for both children and adults. $5 for two hours.

Ice RinksScheduled to close late February (weather permitting) | Eastside, Northdale, and Walton Parks
Ice rinks will be flooded for skating this winter. Warming houses will be closed for the season to maintain COVID-19 guidelines regarding gathering size and social distancing.

SOLD OUT! Family Moonlight Snowshoe and BonfireSaturday, February 27 | 6 – 8:30 PM | Discovery Center
Enjoy a leisurely snowshoe walk following a luminary lit trail through the wooded Oakdale Nature Preserve. Join servers back at the bonfire for hot dogs, burgers, chips, s'mores, and hot chocolate. The luminary lit trail will close at 8:30 PM. A great way to celebrate winter in Minnesota! Snowshoes included. Children under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is now full. $25 per person.

KidCreate Take Home Art KitsOrder now through April 30 | Discovery Center Pickup | Elementary aged kids, but with adult supervision, kits can also be used for preschoolers
At home art kits with online instructional videos are now available from Kidcreate Studio! The kit contains an easy to follow lesson plan, a link to a correlating online instructional video taught by a Kidcreate Studio art teacher, art materials needed to create one fridge-worthy masterpiece and additional suggestions for online learning that relate to the art lesson. Art Kits to choose from: - Bunny Sunset (Learn to draw little bunnies, paint a warm sun setting sky)
- Clay Coil Bowl (Use a special clay technique to build a unique creation)
- Clay Mosaic (Create a mosaic out of air dry clay and beads)
- Slime Time (Create one of our favorite messy times)
- Snow Globe (Use several different types of clay along with glitter, beads, and more)
After you've placed your order, kits will be available for pick up the following week beginning on Wednesday. $15 per kit.

Join Susan Weum for an online exercise class to get your body moving again. Join your peers for a dynamic warmup followed by stretching and strength building. We’ll finish each session with balance and relaxation to leave you energized and stress free. Susan Weum is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Trainer and a member of the Oakdale 50+ Team.
