Dog Sled Day

Saturday, February 29 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

The Samoyed - not just another pretty face. Did you know that the Samoyed is a working dog, bred for sledding and herding reindeer? Join us as we welcome the Samoyed Association of Minneapolis - Saint Paul to the Discovery Center for Dog Sled Day. This free, informational program will include a meet and greet with the dogs. Limited spots for dog sled rides (age 12 and under) have all been reserved! You can still come for the information and meet the dogs!

Oakdale Nature Preserve Snowshoe Rental

Rates are $5 per person for a two hour rental during Discovery Center hours. Youth and adult sizes available.

Snow Sculpture Contest

Submit your snow sculpture now through March 31 | Oakdale Residents (Any address in Oakdale, MN 55128)

Winner receives a $100 Marcus Theaters Gift Card! Calling all creative Oakdale residents. Do you have what it takes to create the best snow sculpture in town? If so, head outside any time after a snowfall, and start constructing your masterpiece. All sculptures are judged on appearance, relative to the season’s theme. This year’s theme is “Everything Disney.”

Preschooler Story Time: Things that Go

Wednesday, February 26 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

A librarian from the Oakdale Library will be visiting the Discovery Center for a special preschool story time! We will have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together. We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow. A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups. Free. Please call 651-747-3860 to reserve your spot!

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

Select Friday mornings | 9:30 – 11 AM | Discovery Center

Children participate in discussions, play games, watch DVDs, and create projects. Register one week prior to class! $8 per class.

Kidcreate Art Class (Ages 18 months to 6 years)

My Messy Valentine
Thursday, February 13 | 9:30 – 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

Join us for a Valentine’s Day gift making party. Let your young artist show their favorite Valentine how much they love them by getting messy! We'll throw and splatter paint on a canvas board to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Nothing says “I love you” better than a hand-made gift! This is a great class for siblings to attend together. Children need to be accompanied at class by a caregiver. Register by February 6. $18 per child.

Indoor Market

Saturdays, February 8 & 22 | 9 AM – 1 PM | Discovery Center

Over 20 local vendors offering a unique variety of items including baked goods, jams, cheeses, meats, canned goods, sweets, salsas, strudels, jewelry, micro greens, and much more! Check out the Community Booths to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses.

SOLD OUT! Valentine's Day Snowshoe, Sip and Sample (Ages 21+)

Friday, February 14 | 7 – 10 PM | Discovery Center

Celebrate Valentine's Day with a night of snowshoeing along a candlelit luminary trail, a vintage game room, prizes, music, food, beer and wine samples! Plenty of chocolate too. This event is great for friends, couples, or even if you are not a Hallmark Holiday supporter! Enjoy this community event that is always a seasonal favorite. Includes snowshoes, or bring your own. Register by February 1. $39 per person.

ViniYoga

Discovery Center
ViniYoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which adapts to the needs of each student. Classes will include a blend of gentle yoga postures, breathing, and simple meditations to help the body build strength and flexibility while remaining steady and comfortable. Beginners are welcome as are those who have practiced yoga before and all students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
