City of Oakdale officials and staff attended the St. Paul Area Chamber Leaders in Local Government Awards luncheon Wednesday, September 13, and the City accepted an award recognizing the Business Retention, Expansion and Attraction (BREA) program as the winner in the Business Retention and Expansion category.
In partnership with the Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce (OACC), the BREA program began in 2022 as a means to better learn how the City can support local businesses. City staff and officials visited 18 local businesses to receive a tour, share resources and gather feedback for areas of improvement. Each business was presented with a commemorative statue in appreciation for being a valued business in Oakdale.
“The City is honored to have been recognized by the St. Paul Area Chamber with a Leaders in Local Government Award for our BREA program,” said City Administrator Christina M. Volkers. “The BREA program has helped our staff learn more about the business culture in Oakdale and how the City can provide additional support and resources to help businesses grow and thrive in our community. We are proud of this program and look forward to improving and continuing it in the future.”
Additionally, Oakdale Recreation was a finalist in the Communications and Marketing category of the Leaders in Local Government Awards.
