News Release from Police Dept. on 7/14/22

On June 28, 2022 at 10:04 p.m., Oakdale Police responded to Marcus Cinema located at 5677 Hadley Avenue North for the report of a shooting in the movie theater. Police found a 23-year-old male victim, resident of Saint Paul, had sustained two gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital for treatment. The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the shooting. Despite numerous interviews with potential witnesses, law enforcement has been unable to gather a detailed description of the shooter.
Oakdale Police, with assistance of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, processed the scene for evidence. Although the victim is not interested in seeking criminal charges against the perpetrator of this crime, Detectives are continuing to process evidence and pursue all leads in attempt to identify and hold the suspect accountable for their actions. At this point in the investigation, Detectives firmly believe the shooting was not a random act of violence. The shooting was directed toward one individual and Marcus Cinema happened to be the location where the victim and suspect crossed paths. There is no ongoing threat at Marcus Cinema stemming from this incident.
This case is still considered an active investigation. Oakdale Police will provide a press release should an arrest be made. Oakdale Police are asking anyone with information regarding this shooting to contact 651-439-9381.
