Newton Sworn In as Oakdale's Police Chief

At the September 14 City Council meeting, Mayor Reinke administered the Oath of Office to new Police Chief Nicholas Newton, witnessed by members of the Oakdale Police Department, family, community members, and city staff. 

Newton has been a member of the Oakdale Police Department for 20 years, rising in rank from patrol officer to sergeant in 2006 to captain in 2020; he served as Interim Police Chief since August 1 following the retirement of longtime Police Chief Bill Sullivan.  Newton is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA and the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, in addition to holding both a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.
