Are you looking for free summer programs for your children, grandchildren or even yourself? Then the Discovery Center Amphitheater is the place to be! On select Thursday mornings, the amphitheater will play host to a variety of programs geared to all ages.  (In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved into the Discovery Center).

Beekeeping and honey extraction event

Beekeeping & Honey Extraction Event

Thursday, August 8 | 6 – 8 PM | Discovery Center Amphitheater
 
Join us for our annual beekeeping and honey extraction event at the Discovery Center. Watch while local beekeepers, Karen and Duane Voy, extract honey from the Center’s live hive! They will also share tips on being a successful beekeeper.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

Friday, August 16 | Movies begin at dusk (about 20 minutes after sunset), concessions available beginning at 7 PM | Walton Park Band Shell

Round up the kids, some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a night under the stars as the movie plays on the big screen at the band shell! Sponsored by the Oakdale Police and Recreation Departments.

Summer Youth Recreation Camps 

Eight weeks of summer fun for your child! Campers play games, create arts and crafts, and participate in special events for each weekly theme.

Small World Camps for preschool ages 3 to 5 (must be potty trained)
Monday – Thursday | 10 – 11:30 AM | Oakfield Park
AUGUST CAMP:

  • August 5 to 8: Dino-Mite!
Register one week prior to camp. $23/week.

Kidcreate Studio End of Summer Bash (Ages 4 to 9)

Friday, August 16 | 9:30 – 11:30 AM | Discovery Center

Summer is coming to an end. Don't let it slip by without creating some "sweet" art! Join us as we create art out of candy. You guessed it, our art materials will be frosting, gumdrops, marshmallows, and other candy treats. Come create a summertime beach scene with these "sweet" supplies. Register by August 11. $30.

Curious Critters Club (Ages 3 to 6)

Children participate in discussions, play games, watch DVDs, and create projects. Register one week prior to class. $7 per class.

Story Time for Preschoolers: "Fish"

Wednesday, August 21 | 10:30 AM | Discovery Center

Join a librarian from the Oakdale Library for a special preschool story time! We will have fun talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing together.  We will focus on concepts such as counting, colors, sharing, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. A simple craft will follow.  A free program recommended for developmental ages 0 to 5 and their grown-ups. Please call 651-747-3860 to reserve your spot! Free.

Farmers Market

Wednesdays, now to October 2 | 2 - 6 PM | City Hall Parking Lot

Purchase locally grown products that promote healthy lifestyles, while sustaining local agriculture at the Oakdale Farmers Market. Pick up a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, a bouquet of flowers, a loaf of bread, dessert, and so much more! Check out the Community Booth to see what is happening locally, and enter your name for a chance to win the Vendors Variety Gift Basket. This is the vendors' way of saying thank you for supporting the community and local businesses.

Viniyoga

ViniYoga is a therapeutic style of yoga which adapts to the needs of each student. Classes are held in a serene setting overlooking the beautiful nature preserve and include a blend of gentle yoga postures, breathing, and simple meditations to help the body build strength and flexibility while remaining steady and comfortable. Beginners are welcome as are those who have practiced yoga before and all students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
