2019 Street Improvement Updates

Construction has begun on this year’s street improvement project which covers the Partridge Estates and Heather Ridge neighborhoods. The improvements include miscellaneous storm sewer/sanitary sewer/water main repairs and replacement, replacement of isolated sections of structurally damaged curb and gutter, repaving of the asphalt pavement section, and installation of uniform street lighting. It also includes replacing the top surface of pavement on Helmo Avenue from 15th Street to Upper 23rd Street.
 
T.A. Schifsky & Sons, Inc. is the Contractor for this project. They have successfully completed many similar projects for the City.  This work will be done in phases by area to help minimize disruption. All project work is scheduled to be complete by early September.

Current and Planned Work


Partridge Estates Area

  • A pipe crew has started work to repair water valves and replace some storm sewer structures and pipes which will take about 1-1/2 weeks to finish.
  • The street pavement is planned to be reclaimed/recycled into gravel in two phases to minimize disruption. The first phase (41st St. Ct, 43rd St., Hadley Cir., and 44th St. west of Hadley) is scheduled for next Tuesday May 22.  The second phase (Upper 42nd St., Upper 43rd St., 44th St. east of Hadley and Hamlet Ave.) is scheduled for May 29.
  • Concrete curb and gutter spot replacement is planned to begin in about 2 weeks. 

Heather Ridge Area

  • A lighting crew has started work in this area.  They will first drill in new underground wiring and will then follow up with installing new lights.  This work will take about 5 weeks to complete.  The existing lights will be left operational as long as possible to try and minimize the down time for the system. They will be working from North to South as the Excel Gas crews finish streets.
  • Excel Gas crews are continuing to replace gas mains and services to houses in this area.  They are working from North to South and expect to be all done by June 15.

Helmo Avenue mill & overlay

  • Work is expected to start the first week of June.
As construction progresses, please use caution traveling within the project area.  Also, please do not park vehicles on the street from 7AM to 7PM within the project area unless instructed to by the Contractor to accommodate driveway work. This will help the Contractor to work more efficiently, and will create a safer work zone. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
