Development of the City's budget begins each spring as a joint process involving the City Council, Administrator, Finance Director and department heads. A budget calendar is developed to make sure the required deadlines are met and there is adequate time for a thorough review of the proposed budget.
The City holds a Truth in Taxation meeting each December, after which the City Council adopts the final levy and budget.
