fire Explorers

The Oakdale Fire Explorers has been around since 1995. The explorer program is for ages 14 to 20 and interested in exploring a career in the fire or EMS industry. Participants hold fundraising events to cover operating costs. The program is lead by adult advisors who are members of the Oakdale Fire Department.

Training & Education

The Explorers meet at least twice a month to conduct training on a wide variety of topics, such as fire fighting and Emergency Medical Services. The core values of the program include education, leadership, responsibility and teamwork. Participants learn the basic fundamental skills of the entry level Fire Fighter/Emergency Medical Technician.

Explorers train to compete in at least one competition a year with other explorer posts from the state of Minnesota. They also participate in the training with the Oakdale Fire Department to learn the basic operations. The Explorers participate in other community events such as Fire Prevention Week.
