Rental Housing License

Oakdale's rental housing program requires all rental property within the city obtain an annual license.

Licensing Period

The licensing period runs from January 1 to December 31. Applications (see below) are mailed out at the end of December with a January 31 submittal deadline. Applications are processed, rental licenses are mailed out, and a date set to inspect the rental property. (Should the inspection date not work with the owner/manager schedule, they are asked to contact the city to change the inspection date). Inspection information is provided below. Please note that there will be a $35 service charge on all returned checks.

Oakdale’s City Code, Chapter 7 (see below) covers property maintenance and rental housing licensing. The 2012 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) has been adopted as the housing standard the city uses to inspect all residential and commercial property. Copies of the 2012 IPMC are available at City Hall for viewing.
